The Story Behind the Stories
After the breast cancer diagnosis of our dear friend, Lindsay, at her young age of 28, our eyes were truly opened to the world of cancer. As destructive as this disease can be, it also has the unique ability to unite people in ways we never thought possible.
Two and a half years after her diagnosis, Lindsay became a mother for the first time via surrogate. Children have a remarkable way of being the light in times of darkness and witnessing the powerful bond between Lindsay and her son was incredible.
We were moved by Lindsay’s journey and being sisters and mothers ourselves, we decided to create a children’s book together that touched on the topic of cancer and also worked as a resource to help children feel involved during the treatment process. With Jenny doing the writing and Jessica’s artistic talent, HATventures of Hope was born.
Lindsay continued to fight fearlessly, but sadly her journey ended in 2016. Although her absence is felt daily, she serves as a reminder to stay positive and forge ahead- just as she did during her battle. Since her passing, our journey has continued and our second book, Braving the Storm, was created.
We have found great purpose in being able to gift these books to hospitals and families through the generous donations from others. Lindsay and her beautiful spirit will always inspire us to spread awareness and give back.
As a mother of two and home daycare owner, Jenny has always been passionate about children. She spends most of her days in the land of imagination.
She has always had a love for writing, also, so being able to merge both worlds and team up with her sister has been a dream come true.
Jessica is a former pediatric nurse turned professional stay-at-home mom. Many would agree that she is the life of every tea party.
Aside from being born with the incredible talent of turning words into art, she also loves reading, photograpy, time with her family and serving at her church .
Loyal wife, mother, friend and avid activist for spreading cancer awareness- Lindsay was a warrior in every sense of the word.
After her 2010 breast cancer diagnosis, Lindsay fought fearlessly and gracefully for five and a half years. She was a pillar of strength to anyone who knew her and she continues to inspire us even in her absense.
